Did the Swiss never consider that going behind the back of a whole nation and running with rouge interlopers might cause more harm than good in the long run? Somehow the Syrian position will harden and a true just and durable peace will be harder to find thanks to Liel and his Swiss friends. Do the Swiss need the address of the Israeli and Syrian foreign ministries? I believe they have set back peace many years by raising Syrian expectations and intransigence. Peace will involve the international border and warm relations. There will be a confidence building period with specific measurable steps taken over many years but the border will not be west of the international border and perhaps it will be to the east of it.. The Swiss should, in the interests of peace, let the Syrians know not to expect more than this. I also would caution the Israelis from cutting any deal with the minority despotic regime in Damascus. They are not long for Power.
