Thank you Shlomo for an interesting analysis. The Knesset should pass a resolution calling on the PA to declare a state. Following that the whole tenor and temperature of the issue could cool significantly. Discussion could concentrate on the practical day to day requirements of the two states' daily lives. Personally I suspect that the Palestinians real leadership is more interested in defeating Israel than in helping the Palestinian people. Of course the Palestinians we see and hear say what they know we want to hear ... I suspect they have been doing this to Shlomo for 50 years. Still, such a declaration would be a good way forward and could all be done without involving outsiders. I think about half the Palestinians want to live quietly next door to Israel. They want a kind of modern western-ish life which they know Islam can't give them. The backwardness of the past has nothing to warm the hearts of these Palestinians.
