As a child of ANC activists who fled SA as political exiles in 1969, I can still remeber how relatively few friends I had, because so many of our nice Jewish neighbors (we lived in Parktown and Killarney, heavily Jewish leafy Johannesburg neighborhoods) did not want their kids playing with "that bloody commie" Yes, most Jews assuaged their gulty conciences by voting for Helen Suzman, paying thier servants a tad more than their gentile neighbors, and not calling them ka**irs, but that's as far as it went. They had no qualms about enjoying the fruits of the poisonous tree, achieving a standard of living most of them could only have dreamt about anywhere else .
