Israel's borders are the 1967 Green Line and Jewish settlements beyond it exist only by military force, not by moral force, not by legal force. The proposed UN Resolution merely states what is true, what is legal and what is moral. There is an alternative to a US veto of the resolution: The government of Israel could declare that it is halting all settlement building beyond the Green Line and that it is prepared to negotiate a Palestinian State on the basis of the 1967 borders. Such a declaration would make the resolution moot and it would put Israel on the path to peace and real security.
