As long as ultra-orthodox individuals are not genuine conscientious objectors who would be expempt regardless of religious affiliation, they should serve their country and fellow countrymen in some capacity. Clearly there are non-combat jobs that the military needs to fill which would be a perfect fit for some of these people. I`ve known people who`ve rendered military service to their country in the capacity of cooks, mechanics, laundry duty, clerical duties, map-making, computers and technology. When your country, your home, your people, are constantly under seige there is just no excuse to exempt any able-bodied person from performing some sort of national service. As such, some sort of conscription plan makes sense.
