Oy vey... Sadly true. I always took a fanatical pleasure in exploiting to the last inch of food the so called "Israeli breakfast", a feast for the belly but for the eye, also. But, true, the "ugly Israelis" disappeared or are all in a diet, but the traditional Israeli breakfast disappeared as well. In most of Israeli hotels those gigantic buffets for shameless gluttons are vanishing: everything is turning minimal and sooooo elegant, with sooooo much aplomb. Nothing is left of the voracious but happy, sincere, joyful, unabashed vulgarity, nothing is left of the chutzpah that was indispensably required to face such meals. Now you have cosmopolitan meals and pretending-to-be-cosmopolitan-eaters. It's the globalized Israel...
