The overwhelming perception in Europe (and probably around the world) that the U.S. house and senate are heavily influenced by AIPAC when it comes to Middle Eastern issues is unfortunately sometimes leading people to "over-simplify" things. However, the election of Sarkozy had very little to do with his Jewish background. Even the immigration problem wasn't the major factor there. It was mainly the economy (Sarkozys will to start reforms).
