Correction: The only profession that does not require a qualification is opinion editor/commentator. And what precisely do you suggest be done? Positions in Israeli government pay less than a tenth of what a highly-qualified candidate would make in the private sector. That's way highly-qualified candidates work in the private sector. Strange how that works, no? Not to mention having to deal with a public that wants low taxes and high spending when it goes to the polls and will vote for a guy just because he is "good-looking". In a failing democracy the problem is the voters, not the elected.
