Recognizing the past is often the only way to move forward, and, unfortunately, since both sides have a past and not-so-distant past of committing horrific atrocities on each other in the name of their religions and in the name of humanity, both sides will have to come out and face that openly and squarely if there is to be peace. Israel must withdraw her troops and settlements from West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, stop the housing demolitions, the abuse of Palestinian civilians and the deprivation of food, water, electricity, incomes, education and medical care. An independent, sovereign Palestinian nation-state must be allowed to emerge in West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip....NOW! They must either dismantle the settlement housing or hand it over to the Palestinians to do what they will with it. All of the above said in this paragraph would be the high road that Israel could/should take. It would be soul-cleansing for Israelis and uplifting for Palestinians
