We recently spent 24 hours in Istanbul on my way to Israel. Our guide knew we were Jewish and spend part of the year in Israel. He was very upset about the poor relations between the two countries and was hoping to get to Tel Aviv soon. A merchant in the suk, after some hard bargaining, guessed we were part Israeli. He said that Israelis were hard bargainers but that he missed them. Maybe we only met nice Turks.
