It's obvious now from all facts that have appeared so far that the flotilla was going to be a provocation and moreover, part of a greater campaign to discredit Israel after op Cast Lead against the Kassams, which have stopped ever since after beeing shot in the tenthousands for years. While Israel did not spy (enough) in Turkey to discover in advance what was going on, R.T Erdogan surely had a close eye on the IHH activities and did not intervene, as it fits his overall policies of leaning more and more towards militant Islamism of HAMAS' sorts, dragging Turkey away from NATO and Europe into the muds of Arab Nationalism and Islamism. Blame on the man who betrays his country and the heritage of modern Turkey laid by Ataturk. Israels government is also to blame in again and again not appropriately weighing the consequences of their actions. The damage would have been far less if Israel had stopped the boats off the coast in Gaza, after they broke into its territory. Blame also on the Navy commanders who did expose their soldiers to those dangers without clearing the decks of the Marmara by crowd dispersion measures. The deaths and injuries could have been avoided by thinking twice before!

Operation octogenarian

In 1969, veterans of the Haganah, Irgun and WWII were asked to help defend the northern communities. The media described a giant success, but archives show they were mostly asked to help with the harvest.
