There is no such thing as an Israeli state defining the country as an Israeli state means nothing at all. Israel was created from before day 1 to be a jewish state and if its not that then it has no reason possibly even no right to exist. Israel is a democracy is based on European style coalition based government. The system is certainly full of flaws and a straight winner takes all system of single party rule would certainly create more a stable government that functions better but just because the system is flawed and there are better systems out there doesn't make it any less a democracy. No bill of rights so what being a democracy isn't dependent on having a bill of rights. The UK was one of the worlds first democracies but they have no bill of rights or written constitution. Every country has segments of the population who feel the national identity of the state or its policies do not represent them. Israels national symbols will never mean anything to the arabs but they are still citizens with rights. Jews in Iran and Turkey do not feel the regime represents them. There is no such thing as a perfect country and the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence but thats life.
