The truth needs to come out. As a teacher who worked many years at Hillel, I never heard any such allegations from my own students about Rabbi Finkelstein and I know several students in Florida whom he helped in many positive ways. I found him to be an extremely supportive administrator and I really enjoyed working for him. However, a very good friend of mine who had attended MTA in his youth and had moved down to Florida as an adult told me that many of his high school friends felt violated by the wrestling they were forced to engage in when called in to Rabbi Finkelstein's office. The NY allegations did indeed trickle down to Florida early on and were whispered about among several people throughout the community. It is thanks to a Twersky, someone with a last name that carries a great deal of weight in the Jewish community, that the Jewish world is finally taking this matter seriously. Let's hope justice is served soon so survivors can start healing.
