History should rest on the shoulders of truth and not on the shoulders of politics. Israel, the state of the Jewish people, should acknowledge the Armenians genocide because: 1.) Ethics constitute the core of Judaism, and it is therefore inconceivable that the state of the Jewish people should take the unethical -- and therefore un-Jewish -- position of denying genocide. 2.) Acknowledging the genocide may endanger Israel and thus it may endanger the Jewish people. However, subscribing to Judaism has always proved perilous, anyway. Additionally, although one can break nearly every law in order to save a life, one cannot save life at the expense of committing a "chilul hashem" (a profanation of God's name). It profanes God's name for the state of the Jewish people to not openly acknowledge the tragedy which befell the Armenian people. 3.) Having suffered a genocide and its subsequent denial, most Jews do fully acknowledge the Armenian genocide. It's about time Israel did so too.
