Genuine democracies can be tyrannical. That's why the US is a republic in which minority rights are protected by a constitution and the impartial rule of law. Israel has no constitution (yes, the Torah, but I don't live in the 18th century Pale of Settlement) - and names and labels mean nothing without justice. And that, though well articulated in Torah, somehow gets lost in Israeli translation. It is not enough to say "they have it better than if living in Gaza or any other part of the Arab world." Either Israel embraces justice or discards it; you can't have it both ways and remain either civilized or Jewish.
