Oren is right. Israel should be free to make its own decisions. Unfortunately, we, in this country, cannot. We are required to support Israel financially and politically--even to our detriment when Israeli policies are not consistent with US interests. Certainly Oren's principles should apply to us as well--no one can make us fork over $3billion/year (plus $2billion/year bribe money to Egypt) and provide automatic vetoes in the UN. But alas, that is not Israel's problem--it's ours. Our political system simply encourages politicians to sell themselves to the highest bidder irrespective of other considerations.
