While I am wholeheartedly against any sort of terrorist activity, whether it be committed by Muslims, Jews, or Christians, there is a pattern developing concerning countries being targeted and countries from which terrorists originate. So far, all the countries being targeted have had their forces stationed in the Middle East theater, Afghanistan, or in the case of Russia, they were embroiled in the war at the North Caucasus region. Majority of those terrorists originate from these countries as well. Best way to radicalize someone is to invade their home, occupy their country, and treat them like dirt. That has been happening for more than two decades in the regions I've mentioned. Jihad inherently isn't a dirty word. It basically means defense of ones home, but when faced with such overwhelming might as that of the U.S. or IDF, the only choice is the asymmetrical warfare. That means terrorism. Israeli groups like Haganah, Palmach, or Irgun embraced that kind of warfare when fighting the British. They did it because there was no other way. I am in no way justifying terrorist actions, but we in the West really need to start looking at the causes of the current terrorist threat and stop just treating the symptoms. If something doesn't change in our relations towards those countries, many more Tsarnaevs will show their faces in the cities of the West. It is time to go to the root of the problem and change all those damaging policies towards Muslim countries. Otherwise we will only see escalating violence on both sides.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
