When I visited Israel during a bus tour one day the guide commented the area now has more rainfall. I asked aloud why that is. A UNIFIL soldier - from Holland/Denmark ?- on bus heard me. He explained trees help collect air moisture to make rain. So, those PA trees do help Israel as well and catch rainfall to seep into soil.
