This tragic event should make all IDF members very worried. Obviously the tension is so high that trigger-happy troops shoot without verifying facts. "Shoot first, ask questions later" is a recipe for disaster. Innocent, unarmed Palestinians have been the victim of this often before. Now soldiers cannot even recognise the uniforms of their own army. "Friendly fire" is sadly common enough in the middle of battle. This, however, was not a confusing "melee", dust-clouds and enemy fire obstructing the view. My sympathies go out to the tank unit soldier who did behave in the appropriate manner and paid the ultimate price for it.
