It's pretty clear how the conversation is going. "This is intolerable" say the Israeli authorities. "Yes, indeed, and we must change the law some time soon" say the UK authorities. But they're not talking about the same thing. The Israeli authorities want impunity for all Israeli officials. The UK authorities have not the remotest intention of doing that - Parliament passed the laws on universal jurisdiction just to ensure there would be no impunity. What the UK authorities want is that they should know when someone is asking for an arrest warrant. Now you can wonder whether the UK Parliament will grant them that - my guess is "no way". But even if they get that, it's a long long way from the impunity the Israelis think (or pretend to think) they will get.
