Your sarcastic take on the left is typical of some American zealots. The left is not preaching any moral superiority, it just disagrees with the haughty war mongering of some right wing zealots, and their sense of total infallibility. The left and the right are equally concerned with the wellbeing of Israel; they only see different means to achieve it. Many right wingers are locked in a cyclical view of history, a pagan way of viewing the world, believing that everything repeats itself in time and that Arab attitudes towards Israel are unchangeable. Well, Judaism subscribes to a linear history where there is progress and evolution, where most people move from one point to another, and don't get stuck. It's this linear view of history that turned despair in our long years of suffering into hope "sheyihye tov", even when times were very tough. And in fact, the Nazis did not last forever and the Arab hatred will also change in time into a reluctant acceptance of Israel in their midst.
