The fact of the matter is that no matter what Sharon's motivation, he has left Gaza and the Palestinians have it now. Sharon won't live forever and the Likud won't be in power forever but no matter who is in power in Israel there is no denying that Israel will be a better and safer place without the occupation of millions of angry people. I doubt if the final borders will resemble what Sharon has in mind. Once negotiations resume (God willing) they will take on a life of their own and a fair compromise will ultimately be reached. I think the days of denying the problem are over and most Israelis now understand that they must compromise for the sake of the state.
