Ultimately Bashar has inherited his father's cruel tendencies..Okay for now,but as you say it must be clear that he will have to change his tactics but NOT at a slower pace,but the reverse.That is if he wants to survive..Doesn't look very promising though.The people have decided.They want freedom and not the strictures they have been under for over 10 years.And I am not counting the rest of the 30+years under his father..
