If you are right, and if, in a situation such as this one, many Israeli citizens would rather go scuba in Eilat and pay others to fight for their country and home, then the days of the Jewish state are counted. Israel is too small - and too small is that part of its population prepared to earn a living by defending its homeland - to rely on a professional army for its survival. It would be the first step toward a mercenary army. And no mercenary army in the world would ever be as resourceful and heroic as IDF was in 1973. When such a mercenary army comes into being instead of IDF, it will signal time has come for us Israelis to pack and go elsewhere under more peaceful skies.
