    "Until there is a real democratic govt. in Syria, ..." (Polybios) I put it to you that as long as any Arab country is in a state of war with us, it will never be democratic. "... giving them the Golan wouldn't guarantee peace." (Polybios) There is not a single soul in Israel fool enough to thinks that "giving them the Golan (back)" would guarantee peace. But one has to be pretty naive to believe that Syria will agree, one beautiful day, to make its peace with us, and be the one and only Arab state to have willingly contributed a part of its sovereign land to the prosperity of the Zionist state. What has guaranteed peace with Egypt, at least up to now (30 years after Sadat's visit), is not having given them the Sinai back, but the IDF. There is no reason at all to think it wouldn't work with Syria too.
