Where, then, does that leave Iran? "To come clean on this illicit nuclear program" pre-supposes Iran's guilt. So really, the US and Israel are holding Iran guilty until Iran proves itself innocent. BUT, it is becoming increasingly clear that nothing Iran says or does, will suffice that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. If even electing an allegedly moderate president (we're still yet to see how moderate), or the fact that Iran even has a democratic political system in place at all (as we have now witnessed, and are only now not disputing solely because of who won, imagine our cynicism if a conservative fundamentalist Islamist had won, we'd be saying the system is a sham), or even the fact that throughout Iran religious and ethnic minorities (including Iran's Jews, the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel) voted in record numbers (and the minorities were the reason why the moderate candidate passed the threshold that prevented a second round of voting), and the fact that diaspora Iranians could and did also vote in record numbers in Iranian consulates worldwide (again, more so, including many many Iranian religious and ethnic minorities, including most prominently Iranian Jews, since proportionally, given the demographics of the Iranian diaspora, Iranian Jews and other Iranian religious and ethnic minorities comprise a bigger segment of the Iranian diaspora than their respective communities are back home in Iran) - if all of this does not suffice either the US or Israel, and does not count for anything, if their suggestion for normalisation depends on Iran having simply "to come clean on this illicit nuclear program", I believe that leaves Iran between a rock and a hard place. If, just suppose, if Iran actually is NOT pursuing nuclear weapons (I'm not saying they are or they aren't, I'm just saying, if indeed they aren't), Iran has no way out of the predicament. If nothing short of an Iranian confession admitting guilt will suffice, then sadly, we better hope Iran is indeed guilty, so that it has the option of confessing it, to avoid a US or Israeli strike. Because if Iran is not guilty, Iran will not admit to being guilty, which then will lead to a US or Israeli strike. G-d save us all from this illogical situation.
