There is an alternative approach, aand it is not magic. It is called: respond to peace initiatives. Israel is reacting like a wounded dog who continues to bite his attacker although he's weakening every moment. Yes, previous peace initiatives failed, for both parties were not ready for serious concessions. One day, sooner or later, the antagonists will understand that there is no military solution to the conflict. Even Hamas seems to get the message, although Israel scoffs at it because people like Moshe Arens believe in a military solution. Yes, those wretched, desparate and therefore bloodthirsty Palestinians are and will remain our neighbors. Somebody will have to start changing attitudes; it's better to begin with the stronger partner. You know, they too are intelligent and sensitive people who basically want peace but with honor. Given the right circumstances they can be friendly neigbors. This is called reframing the terms of reference; we better begin soon.
