Who was admitted, in May 1949, as a member state, to the United Nations - the Jewish people, or the Jewish state? Who is governed (or more truly, misgoverned) by an elected leadership - the Jewish people, or the Jewish state? Who occupies, for already 42 years now, a foreign and stateless population - the Jewish people, or the Jewish state? Who stands accused today, for the entire world to see, of war crimes against foreign civilians - the Jewish people, or, through its army and cabinet ministers, the Jewish state? Who is desperately confused? He who reveals himself to be utterly unable to tell the difference between the two? OR an Israeli journalist whose only sin is to criticise the leaders of his country, for leading it right to disaster, as is the most basic right of every citizen of a democratic country? Will you, Meir M, give me, just this once, for a change, an honest answer, if you know what that means - or is that expecting too much of you?
