Gabe, I'm sure many feel relieved that you've managed to counter my arguments by pointing out that discos and drugs exist in Tel Aviv - phew! I stand (in Tel Aviv) proudly in calling for a real Palestinian state, not one which is subject to the arbitrary security whims of another. The Palestinians pay for electricty and water (or, at the moment, we are taking it out of the customs money we are not transferring to them) and I agree with you (!!!) that Egypt has also failed to live up to its responsibilities. But Israel does have a responsibility to the Palestinian population, because for the last 39 years Israel has occupied Palestinian territory and denied them their legitimate aspirations of self determination (the same legitimate aspirations that helped create the state of Israel, including for us in Tel Aviv, where our tax dollars have helped subsidise the lives of settlers).
