Thank you for calling me dumb but it is the logic of smart people like you which is of much concern. It is not what the Hamas wishes or dreams of which is important and for that matter what the Maroccan or the Basques doing or did in Spain, the IRA in England or the FLN in France! These countries did not unleash the might of their armed forces on the respective civilian population from whence these attackers came, and even in Algeria where the French Legion committed atrocities against the populace the end of the occupation was innevitable. You see, you and many other like minded people argue without success that leaving the territories will not change a thing for the plain reason that you do not have a control situation- nothing to compare with except for historical precedents which are not in your favor given that occupation in the long run does not last. The Israeli occupation has to serve as a control of itself, that is, like the occupation of and the disengagement from Lebanon. For all the moaning and bemoaning, that border has been significantly quiet. There is only one way to prove that total withdrawal to the pre 1967 borders will change the raison d'etr of Hamas is to just do it. The onus then will be squarely on the sovereign Palestinian state. Israel will be completely within its rights to attack a soverein state and punish it if it serves as a base for attack on Israel's people and/or territory. Until that time comes Israel has no legal or moral leg to stand on regarding the occupation or the way it treats the occupied
