It is interesting that Olmerts response is getting so much critism from FOOL, et al., while the Hamas backtrack was ignored by this troop. It also needs to be said that this is a very tough situation. Everyone on this thread who is intelligent and reasonable can make tremendous arguments for their side. This includes pro Israel and anti Israel posters. It is not realistic to expect too much publically from Olmert from the minimal comments, which were quickly repudiated, by Meshel. It is also not realistic to expect much more from Hamas. It is a slow dance. What happens via back channels is more important. The Saudi's, Egyptians and Jordanians are ready to end the conflict. Not from love but from pragmatism. Slowly, slowly, slowly, but, surely, the conflict will subside. The final settlement will look much like the Clinton Barack plan that Arafat turned down with no counter offer.
