    Berkeley - enough said... Note the "often forced" in my definition of Christianity. As a PhD in Crusader history, I have a good grasp of what a religion can be twisted to. But I am also convinced that your "live and let live" idea of Judaism is misguided. The tribal nature of Judaism - of the Am Israel opposed to a planet full of goys - prevented forced conversions like the one meted out by Islam and medieval Catholicism, but it only took sixty years of the State of Israel to indicate just how nasty Jews, too, can become towards their fellow men. And I doubt that that had anything at all to do with the failures of Christianity to live up to its mission. Any religion is by its very nature hostile to those professing other religions. At least Catholicism has - reluctantly, probably - tried to unite the faiths ("Oikumene") - Judaism has only demanded the other faiths stand in eternal apology and shame of what they allowed to happen, whereas Islam has, and will continue to, only demande
