"Simply ending occupation is suicidal." (Dave Loev) I am glad to see that we can both agree on at least one fact, which is: There is indeed a 40 years long occupation of a neighbour foreign people. Now remains the question: What has made this occupation to last for so long, and what can we do to end it, without destructive effects on ourselves? "Islamists brought the Palestinians nothing other than suffering and blood, instead of peace and prosperity." (Dave Loev) Here too, I find myself agreeing with you: The Palestinian Islamists do have their part of responsability in the continuation of the occupation. So now comes a new question: How was it that our leaders did not take this fact - so obvious to us, humble individuals of no exceptional quality - into consideration, last summer, when they withdrew the IDF from Gaza, while completely and deliberately ignoring the moderate and pragmatic Mahmoud Abbas, elected in Nov 2004 by the Palestinians to be their President? "At end of his meeting with Palestinian leader, American president says that he intends to continue promoting peace in Mideast, calls (Mahmoud) Abbas 'man of peace.' " in "Bush to Abbas: I'll push for Palestinian state", published on Sept 09, 2006, by www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3306446,00.html Did that really came as a total surprise, to our policy-makers? Be serious, don't tell me to wake up. Go tell that to your own President. And stop bluffing us endlessly, and yourself.
