I'm glad that we agree the creation of the refugee crisis is not up for debate: the war that generated them was an Arab decision. What I argue is the only solution with historical precedent for the Arab parties who started the war to take responsibility for the refugees they generated. It is the same solution Israel was forced to apply to the 900,000 Jewish refugees from Arab countries that poured across their borders in those years. But the real question is why even though the UN is fully aware of these Jewish refugees and their absorption by Israel, it has chosen to absolve the Arab countries of absorbing the Palestinians. The exchange between India and Pakistan in the 1950s was overwhelming in magnitude: 8,500,000 Sikhs and Hindus from Pakistan fled to India, and roughly 6,500,000 Muslims moved from India to Pakistan. Since WW2, 100,000,000 additional persons have become refugees. Why are the Palestinian refugees treated differently than all the other refugees in the world?
