I see that they published my earlier response to you. So I will take the opportunity to respond to your claim about Judaism being tribal. Tribalism is a much misused western defintion of the plethora of ethnic diversity in the middle east and elsewhere and connotes regressive closed societies. Tribalism still exists, no doubt. But I think it is freely attributed by Westerners to societies which they do not understand or have a pre-conceived notion about. It certainly applied to the Israelites 3,000 years ago. But that was 3,000 years ago. Certainly Europeans were tribal then also. Stripped of its implications, however, tribalism is not different than any modern concepts of nationalism and ethnic and religious identity.
