Was the article about Israeli aid to North American Jews? Is there a lot of such aid? Actually, I think your metaphor misses the point. Adolescent Israel has grown up, all right -- but its a singularly ungrateful little critter and its parents aren't exactly expecting help. Rather, they're chagrined to learn that Junior doesn't care about their problems and has no intention of helping out. If they need a ride to the hospital, they'd better call a cab. At least, that was the gist of the piece.
