There is indeed a Problem with Costs. The problem is that in Israel some 4-5 companies totally dominate the supply of food to local Supermarkets and Institutions. Result; No Competition which is the basis of a Free Market. Secondly, the profit margins of these Food Giants is staggering compared to the EEC or the USA. Why did Nestle, Unilever, Danone and other foreign food companies buy Israeli companies? Because of Zionism? Hardly. Because they realized that by working in this small country, with no competition, they can earn extremely nice profits for their shareholders. And I am paying for this! Prices of food in a Supermarket in France, switzerland, Germany, are the same or even less than in an Israeli one! Maybe only fruits and vegetables are a bit dearer. Needless to say that the salary a person gets in the EEC for the same work he does in Israel is twice as much, if not more. The Israeli Food Market is a Monopolistic one so the Government has to look after the weaker.
