I recently attended an academic conference at which there was an excellent analysis of the themes of hasbara. It was painfully obvious that these themes are all tired and worn smooth. They relate to a post-WWII world that has no connection with reality. It is therefore not surprising that hasbara is ineffective. If this analysis of hasbara is accurate, Anshel Pfeffer could not be more correct. Hasbara is a waste. What is needed is not to repeat these outdates themes over and over again, but real statemanship.
