This is just one example where the ugly connection between religion and politics rears its head. I'm all for freedom of religion, but the moment that you let religious leaders - by the way, why need religious people leaders, can't they decide what they believe in for themselves? - have a hand in matters of state, disasters are bound to happen. In most of the advanced societies people realized this a long time ago, why are we so slow here? Aren't we a smart people?
