It is good to see Obama on the right track. He cannot back down - as seeemingly suggested by Clinton recently - and keep hope for peace alive. But he must also put real pressure on Israel. Netanyahu is incorrigible and will respond only when he has to, It is time to suspend all foreign aid and loan guarantees to Israel. It is time to work with the other members of the UN Security Council to put forth a new resolution clarifying 242 and reiterating the vital importance of cessation of all settlment activity. There is no hope for peace as long as Netanyahu is PM and refuses to make any concessions whatsoever. Every measure should be on the table except for the US guarantee of the defense of Israel within the 1967 borders. Israel's existence must be assured, but its economic vitality must be threatened.
