Tim, we must realize that things surrounding Hamas and other Islamic movements are not presented to the American audience with honesty and objectivity, especially after 9/11. Israel, taking advantage of what happened, has sought successfully to demonize anything pertaining to Hamas. However, it is true Hamas is being reformed and many of the erstwhile radical policies are being reconsidered. Hamas is now willing to reach peace with Israel based on the two-state solution, but Hamas would never recognize Israel as a Jewish state..since that would mean alienating non-Jews in Israel. In any case, Hamas will not do the PLO blunder...by ceding all its cards in return for nothing. Israel will have to say openly that it is willing to leave 100% of the territories occupied in 1967 and stop the hasbara lies about Barak's mythical offers..then the ball will be in Hamas's and the Palestinians' court, and we would see then what their reactions will be.
