Ari Shavit displays poignant insight. I confess. It is true that we "liberals" find it hard to confront the symmetry of evil. Those who killed this tragic if not inspiring and aspiring "hybred" of Jewish and Palestinian identities in blood and in spirit, was murdered by the evil extremist ideology of Palestinian murderers. Igal Amir and Baruch Goldstein were our tigers unleased into the forests of the night and they created a national post trauma which continues to torment and agonize and antagonize Israels left and right. This murder is no less heinous, but we bury it with a whisper and a whimper. This time the Palestinians must confront their own "tiger burning bright in their forests of the night". This time we don't take the blame. This time it is all theirs.

Why Barak regrets speaking out on Iran

There was no security breach in what the former defense minister said about how an attack was thwarted; what has suffered is mainly Israel’s image.

How the bagel went from shtetls to haute cuisine

A visit to the world's bagel capital is a chance to marvel at how this unassuming Jewish-Ashkenazi food has come from its 17th-century beginnings.
