Fayyad won't declare UDI unless the UN and EU openly and the USA tacitly support it. (They already do, as the Quartet announcement showed). He's not stupid, he knows Israel only understands a violent response to anything that doesn't go its way or challenges the Greater Israel Empire. If the USA tacitly supports UDI, Israel won't be at liberty to impose illegal annexations, seizure of land by force, etc. If it did, there would be an almighty bust-up with the USA of monumental consequence for Israel. Lieberman is a little man talking big here with his warlike hot air. But that's all it is. Israel is desperately trying to buy time until the great day when there's a Palin-type figure in the White House, but that's a long-range, unlikely gamble right now. The game is about over for Israel's imperial pretensions.
