Regardless of the HRC pedigree, which is admittedly beyond the pale the report should stand or fall on its own merits. All those judges are of first class repute despite the ham fisted efforts of those on these shouting forums to discredit each and every one. Is there a single legal expert on here who has the legal credentials to come even close to Goldstone? Maybe an attorney or two [Judge Northridge in today?) but otherwise... hmm, thought so. As for his unblemished record in examining and bringing to book outrageous crimes of war. Any here care to impugn his record? Uh huh. Then of course the tricky issue of him being a fully paid up member of the 'Red Sea pedestrian' tribe. Oh yes, and a Zionist to boot. Goldstone ran the South Africa "Friends of Israel" Office. Is even one of the 'Hebrew University Board of Governors' no less! Perhaps that was why Gordon Brown gave bibi such short shrift when Bibi rang to demand a vote against the adoption of the reports recommendations. So the usual cries of bias and anti-Semitism just seem to fall ever so flat in this case. What a masterstroke by the HRC this was. What an honourable man Goldstone turned out to be. Now that is what I call a *genuine* candidate for a peace prize :)

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
