It is incredibly important, that the American people will hear an alternative Jewish voice, it will make J-Street sound for mainstream Americans like the reasonable pro-Israel voice, while AIPAC/ADL will be pushed into the far right political corner, where they actually fit in rather well. It is also fair to assume, that members of the House and Senate will be much less fearful to speak their mind, when they have a Jewish pro-Israel organisation backing them up. Make no mistake, this is a slow process, but it may actually help on the long term not only to keep Israel as a mainly Jewish state, but also guarantee the future safety and wellbeing of the Jewish community in the U.S. Because if AIPAC and ADL would have been allowed for much longer to act the way they did over the past 2 decades, this could have provoked a terrible backlash against American Jews one day, one really doesn't have to be a historian to recognize that danger...
