Shalit, should he escape his government's censorship, will undoubtedly speak against official Israeli policy and for the humanity of Hamas, Gazans, Palestinians, and Arabs more generally. Call it Stockholm Syndrome, brainwashing, enlightenment or whatever you'd please: Shalit has the definite potential to be a healing figure in the region. May he speak frankly and candidly with his people about their role in the region.
