The official problem might be about don't export because we will not have enough gas for ourselves, the average Israeli doesn't know the first thing about how much gas we will have for ourselves and if its enough if we export their real problem is some big company is going to get very rich from the sale of what they see as publicly owned gas.The social protests have created an image if rich people and big companies being evil oppressors who steal from the little people to make themselves rich and this is just another example of that. Fact is we have NO RIGHT to forbid these companies exporting some of the gas because tif it had not been for them the gas would still be at the bottom of the sea undiscovered so nobody would benefit. The big companies have invested millions searching for and drilling for gas the public have not put in a single shekel and its the big companies who will be responsible for pipelines that get the gas from out at sea - Israel so they are ENTITLED to make a healthy profit from that gas and a condition has always been they are allowed to export a certain percentage. Even if some is exported there will still be plenty for us and we will be getting a percentage of the profits. Time to stop this hatred of the rich because hating them won't solve our own financial problems just gives us a scapegoat.
