Ben Gurion directed Israel toward an American Alliance and this has been the Israeli reality for decades. But Ben Gurion's Zionist lectures never convinced many American Jews, let alone Americans, to change their idea that it is America which is the world's best hope. If you take out balancing scales and start to pile up on either side which way Israel is going to go vis a vis the current American ultimatum, I think you will find that there is a Palestinian State at the end of the exercise. If only Israel had reduced its dependency on the USA a few decades ago. As for mediation, China and Russia would be a better bet because those nations don't present an ideal which competes with Zionism among Jews. The cost of Bibi going with the settlers with over 40% of Israel willing to share Jerusalem is way too high, and besides, Bibi is part American.
