But it is an appropriate demand that Hamas change its character from a violent organization, hell bent on terminating Israel, to a civilized and peaceful Government committed to peace in a process in which it represents the interests of its constituency. How anyone can criticize this position, which is the Israeli position, is beyond me. Of course, one can say that this position isn't genuine, to which I can only say, why doesn't Hamas test the waters. What exactly does it have to lose, if it is indeed genuine???
