This is the result of a 22 year-occupation of Lebanon, which was a result of a 43 year-occupation of Gaza and the West Bank and the expulsion of 800,000 Palestinians in 1948. Israel stayed in Lebanon despite the PLO leaving within the first two months in 1982. Hizbollah got formed, got organized, and became lethal as a result of the continued occupation. Israel didn’t leave all Lebanese lands; it didn’t leave as a good-well gesture, and it wasn’t part of a peace deal or even a truce. Israel left because the losses were too much to bear. This is very similar to the situation in Gaza. I can bet you anything if Southern Leb was as quite as Golan, you’d see settlers living there, and farming those lands.
